Snippets of Life

Saturday, April 28, 2012
All taken with the iphone and instagram.
1. So excited to pick up the NEW Domino Special Edition. I have been enjoying it slowly to make the magic last as long as it can.
2. Got my first shellac manicure with a few girlfriends last weekend. I love the pink color (no filter there) and how durable it is.
3. Living in my grandparents vacation property for a few months and enjoying this view everyday.
4. A coworker got everyone roses. I love how subtle their sweet smell is and adds a bit a cheer to my work day.
What's making you smile this week?

A pretty something - Dior Ad

Friday, April 27, 2012
Here's a pretty something I am currently coveting - it's a Dior, vintage, ballet inspired, lingerie ad, and you can buy it here. I'm totally swooning and loving everything about it.

An Enviable Bar Cart

Wednesday, April 25, 2012
One of the things I love to daydream about is my future, sophisticated home and the chic, so-grownup parties I'd throw. And what's a sophisticated home without an enviable bar cart, (or shelf or nook)? Liquor bottles can be some of the most beautiful pieces to display and can be styled beautifully. I love the ones below, they're so fun and can't help but say "we're going to have a fun (responsible) time!"

Earth Day Fashion - H&M hits homerun

Tuesday, April 24, 2012
In celebration of Earth Day I wanted to do a post about sustainable fashion. I am totally impressed with h&m's Exclusive Glamor Conscious collection. It's sustainable, fashionable, high quality and affordable- um, AWESOME. It's been in stores for the past week and stars have already been spotted in these frocks. All the products are made from sustainable materials - organic cotton and hemp to recycled polyester.

Thursday Thoughts: Create Yourself

Thursday, April 19, 2012
Loving today's inspiration quote from playwrite George Bernard Shaw. Life is what you make of it, and we can really be anyone want, if we have the will. Wish you were a good cook? Then start cooking! I hope my 30 before 30 list will help me keep an honest flight path for where I want my life to be. Only time will tell!

30 before 30

Monday, April 16, 2012
Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend. This weekend I was able to get some chores done and focus on some goals. Realizing that I am now, officially, in my mid-twenties, I thought it was a good time to make a 30 by 30 list. Inspired by the likes of Jordan and Nicole, the list below features some big and small life goals. Honestly, it was hard to stop at 30. I'm a little concerned about buying a home AND paying off my student loans, but I think it's feasible. After I hit the big 3-0, I'll focus my efforts on a bigger, life list. Have you made a 30 by 30 or life list? If so please share!

In no particular order....
  1. Fly back to Boston and visit my favorite places
  2. Buy a home
  3. Get married
  4. Travel to Europe
  5. Sew a piece of clothing I WANT to wear
  6. Go on a clothes diet
  7. Lose 20 pounds
  8. Throw a legit dinner party
  9. Open an etsy shop
  10. Have a super blog-feature-worthy birthday party
  11. Wean myself off of disposable grocery bags
  12. Pay off student loans
  13. Take a small vacation with girlfriends
  14. Learn to really appreciate wine
  15. Start saving for retirement
  16. Set up a cute, efficient, organized crafting area
  17. Start a binder of my favorite recipes
  18. Grow my blog subscriptions to more than 400
  19. Live in the city
  20. Cook dinner at least twice a week (pre-packaged does not count)
  21. Make tons of freezer meals
  22. Create a super organized filing system
  23. Take one creative class and learn something new every year
  24. Take a cooking class
  25. Become a runner or yogi-bear
  26. DIY/Renovate at least one room in my home
  27. Design and decorate my home
  28. Have (or make) a quilt of all my college and high school t-shirts that I’ve been hanging on to.
  29. Donate to an animal shelter or charity
  30. Make Eco-friendly improvements to my home

Thursday Thought: 364 days of love

Thursday, April 12, 2012
I can't express how much I love this. Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday/day-of-the-year because I think it is so awesome to celebrate love (of all kinds) - but yes many of us need a reminder that love does not wait for a special day but is around us 24/7. Hope everyone is still celebrating their loved ones today!

Seattle Wedding - Audra & Chris

Wednesday, April 11, 2012
I was so excited to discover this GORGEOUS wedding and then to find it was held in Seattle was just a bonus. Audra and Chris held their wedding at the beautiful Corson Building, which is the perfect backdrop for a sweet, whimsical wedding. The bride's dress is also another wow factor - a pretty peach blush Vera Wang creation. The wedding looks like a great party plus the couple look like they can't stop smiling!

Thursday Thoughts on Love

Thursday, April 5, 2012
My boyfriend and I are house-sitting my grandparents beautiful home and are looking forward to waking up with each other, eating together and all the other really great things that couples get to do when they live together. Neither of us have lived with a significant other before now so we're calling it our "beta test" after an episode of one of our favorite sitcoms. It will be a great trial run - we have been talking for a while about buying our first home and I think this two-month span of time will give us a good idea of our needs. Any suggestions / advice on things to be wary of when living with a significant other? Would love to hear your stories and wisdom!

Bathing Beauty: the one-piece

Wednesday, April 4, 2012
I have become a major fan of the one-piece. It leaves just enough to the imagination that it becomes incredibly sexy, plus they are an unexpected delight on a beach full of two-pieces. Within the last few years they have gained mad style with interesting cuts, patterns and vintage flair. I love old images of past starlights in their gorgeous bathing suites - they are incredibly sophisticated and chic.
